Google Scholar is a popular academic search engine. To get the best experience using Google Scholar, you can link it to the Library's holdings. This will make it much easier to access the full text of articles that you find on Google Scholar.

Setting up Library Links

To set up links to the University of Greater Manchester Library, you need a Google account. Sign into Google Scholar with your Google account. 

Click on the Settings option. 

Then, select Library Links. Search for "Greater Manchester". 

A number of matching results may be shown. Tick the following two options:

• University of Greater Manchester - Discover@UGM
• The University of Bolton - ProQuest Fulltext

Then click Save. 

Now when you run a search on Google Scholar, links will be shown to the right of each result, showing if it can be accessed via the University of Greater Manchester. Click on the link, log in with your University of Greater Manchester username and password, and you'll be able to access the full text. 

If articles you find via Google Scholar do not show a link, it would still be worth copying the title into Discover to double check if we have access. 

Google Scholar does not feature many options for refining or sorting your results. For more options, consider using Discover@UGM or a Subject Database.
